Illinois Latino Family Commission Presents a Workshop for Non-Profit Latino Agencies on How to Access Funds for Their Own Projects

 Contacto: Ray Rubio
Chicago - With a nationwide footprint, Raza Development Fund lending programs focus on community development sectors that provide opportunity to the Latino community and low income families by funding projects designed to enhance education, childcare, affordable housing and healthcare within the community. RDF has financed community development projects in 23 states, choosing those aligned with a focus fostering stewardship, business and charity.
This is the second time the Illinois Latino Family Commission presents Raza Development Fund to Latino non – profit agencies in Chicago facilitating opportunities to get funds for their own projects in their neighborhoods.
Hardworking Latinos account for nearly 30% of the total low-income population in America, and yet less than 1.6% of all foundation, grant and scholarship funding go to improving conditions in poor Latino communities.
Extensive education research clearly demonstrates that overall family circumstances and community characteristics also have a powerful influence on children’s performance. Living in an area with poor access to affordable housing and healthcare fuels the cycle of poverty and inequality. We are working hard to help to address this root causes, break the cycle of poverty and provide pathways to family and community stability.

“Lack of government funding greatly affects organizations and the Latino and low-income families they serve”, said executive director of the Illinois Latino Family Commission, Doctor, Layla Suleiman Gonzalez. Significant growth of the Latino population within certain U.S. regions increases the need for affordable housing, access to quality healthcare, education and workforce development training to maintain economic stability.
